As sales efforts become more and more digital, companies are switching over to various digital marketing tools to support their sales teams. According to a recent report,
inbound marketing costs $14 less per newly acquired customer than traditional marketing tools. Marketers also believe that inbound marketing helps double the average site conversion rate from 6% to 12%. Inbound marketing specialist HubSpot (NYSE:HUBS) recently reported its second-quarter results that continued to surpass market expectations. HubSpot is working on adding capabilities to its products and app marketplace to make its inbound marketing services even more effective. HubSpot’s Financials
HubSpot’s second quarter revenues grew 36% to $421.8 million, ahead of the Street’s forecast of $409.93 million. Non GAAP EPS of $0.44 beat the market’s estimate of $0.43.
By segment, subscription revenues grew 37% to $412.4 million and Professional services and other revenues fell 10% to $9.4 million.
Among other operating metrics, its customer base grew 25% to 150,865. Total average subscription revenue per customer grew 10% to $11,198.
HubSpot forecast revenues of $425-426 million and an EPS of $0.50-$0.52 for the third quarter. The market was looking for revenues of $439.26 million with an EPS of $0.53. HubSpot expects to end the year with revenues of $1.690-$1.695 billion and an EPS of $2.28-$2.30. The market was looking for revenues of $1.72 billion and an EPS of $2.35 for the year.
HubSpot’s Product Expansion
Recently, HubSpot announced new marketing automation features in its Starter tier, allowing marketers to deliver a personalized touch without draining personal time. Teams have the ability to engage and convert customers faster by personalizing and segmenting marketing efforts and automating routine tasks, unlocking value for the starter tier.
It also announced the launch of CMS Hub Free, allowing companies to create a website to attract visitors and leverage CRM to nurture the business across their entire front office on HubSpot. It also announced CMS website themes on its marketplace to give business builders the tools and assets necessary to get started online. Since the launch of the Hub, it has seen nearly 4,000 CMS Free sign-ups in the first month and a 110% increase in marketplace transactions. HubSpot believes that there is a large green space opportunity to drive premium growth with CMS Free.
HubSpot’s Marketplace Strategy
HubSpot has been operating a robust API and app marketplace. In the second quarter, it enhanced its platform for its customers with more sophisticated needs by releasing new sales hub features that enable CRM customization and crafted data management. It continued to expand its app ecosystem with its integration catalog growing nearly 40% over the year. Moving forward, it plans to continue to invest in its developer strategy to drive customization and extensibility of the HubSpot platform. HubSpot currently boasts of over 1 million app installs powered through its marketplace. It recently reported that each of its customer averages over 7 third party app installs, thus supporting the developer ecosystem.
Its stock is trading at $407.07 with a market capitalization of $19.5 billion. It touched a 52-week high of $866.00 in November last year. Earlier this month, it had fallen to a 52-week low of $257.21.
