Roundtable Recap: April 26 – A Rare Women-Only Session

Posted on Thursday, Apr 26th 2012

Today’s roundtable was a women-only affair, with WITI (Women In Technology International) San Diego entrepreneurs leading the way.

But before we dive into the pitches, let me point you to the opportunity with BlueSnap and Elance, which are awarding 12 1M/1M scholarships to digital commerce and subscription businesses. Deadline for applications is May 11.

Hera Hub
First, Felena Hanson from San Diego, CA, pitched Hera Hub, a co-working space in the San Diego area that has 140 women working together in what she calls a ‘spa-like’ environment. Many of these women are freelancers, solopreneurs, writers, etc., and enjoy the community that Hera Hub has created. Felena will be launching two more hubs in San Diego and then wants to franchise the concept in other cities.

Posted on Thursday, Apr 26th 2012

By guest author Jeff Weber from his book From Idea to Exit: The Entrepreneurial Journey

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many people with entrepreneurial ideas who have acted on their dreams and others who merely talk – failing to ever launch.  When I wrote From Idea to Exit: The Entrepreneurial Journey I challenged myself to answer one question.  Why do some people successfully act on their ideas and visions while most others fail to do so?  I’ve had the opportunity to test my thesis through mentoring and advising entrepreneurs over the years, and most recently, I’ve applied my theory to myself in launching two new digital startups.  I was pleased, and a bit ashamed, to find that the theory held up. >>>
