During today’s roundtable, we celebrated the launch of my new book, Billion Dollar Unicorns, with a special guest. Aaron Skonnard, founder and CEO of Pluralsight, one of the very few EdTech ventures out there that are scaling at Unicorn levels, discussed his journey over the last decade. Aaron bootstrapped Pluralsight to $16 million in revenue before raising a $27.5 million Series A at almost a $100 million valuation. From there on, the company has gone on to follow a roll-up strategy with additional funding and is currently valued at close to $1 billion.

Leeflt
As for the presentations, first up, Mrigasha Patel from Minneapolis, MN, pitched Leeflt, an app for making instructions on how to use medical devices easily accessible to hostpitals. The concept needs validation with customers to check if hospitals are willing to pay.

Roundtable Recap: January 8 – Kicking Off 2015 With Great Energy

We kicked off 2015 with our first roundtable, as always an international ensemble of entrepreneurs sharing their ideas, businesses, and dreams.

Mobicip
First up, Suren Ramasubbu from Thousand Oaks, California, pitched Mobicip, a parental control app for mobile devices that is already generating $500k in revenue. Suren also has a school-focused app, and some other ideas about new products to branch into. He is looking at his scaling strategy.

Connectifi
Next, Hitesh Dudani from Hong Kong pitched Connectifi, an alumni-engagement social media platform with specific functionality for placements, fund-raising, mentoring, etc. The idea has surfaced here before, makes plenty of sense, but it will depend entirely on execution.
