During today’s roundtable, we had an excellent discussion with J.T. O’Donnell, a top 20 LinkedIn Influencer, and CEO of Careerealism Media and CareerHMO.
I invited J.T. to brainstorm with us on what she is seeing from the career coaching perspective. Our observations about this gigantic trend of people starting companies while holding onto their full-time jobs, is from the entrepreneurship perspective. People come to us once they have decided they want to be entrepreneurs.
J.T. is in the middle of the decision-making process as people are trying to decide how to play their careers and when to become entrepreneurs.

Book: Carnival In The Cloud.
As part of the launch events for my new book, Carnival In The Cloud, today’s roundtable had a special guest, Eric Benhamou, Managing Partner of Benhamou Global Ventures. Eric was the CEO of 3Com, a pioneer in the networking space, and the key competitor to Cisco. He also ran Palm, the first Smartphone maker, that 3Com acquired, then spun out and took public.
Eric provided an insightful window into the opportunities in the enterprise cloud infrastructure space, and in Cyber Security, and also explained why he is not necessarily looking for Unicorn companies to invest in. This, I might point out, is a highly unusual perspective in today’s VC universe, so you may want to pay attention to his analysis of the market.
Dream Closet
As for the pitches, first up, Sahyujyah Shrinivas from Chennai, India, pitched Dream Closet, a concept arbitrage of a successful American company called Rent The Runway applied to the Indian market. It’s a proven concept in the US. The Indian market will have nuances that need to be fleshed out, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
