Roundtable Recap: January 23 – All Emerging Market Ventures

Today’s roundtable, once again, had huge geographical diversity, spanning presenters from Venezuela, China, India, and callers from Ireland, New York, Georgia, Virginia, etc. I always love to hear from entrepreneurs from so many different parts of the world. It’s thrilling to experience the creative energy.

Coresonant
First, Sridev Nair and Sunil S. from Hyderabad, India pitched Coresonant, a services company that builds solutions for companies across different verticals in the general area of Internet-of-Things. Sridev has about 60 clients, and $500k in revenue. So far so good. Now, he needs to position the company around some key expertise / platforms / solutions, and make those scale with proper go-to-market strategies.

Roundtable Recap: January 16 – Investors Fund Businesses, Not Concepts

During today’s roundtable, we had a couple of formal slide presentations, and a number of shorter dialogues.

Direct Dialect
First, Thelson Richardson from Miami, Florida, pitched Direct Dialect, a language teaching application. Thelson started off by saying that he wants to build 700 products that covers English to Spanish, Dutch to French and every other permutation under the sun.

I spent the allotted time explaining to Thelson, this is not how companies are built. He needs to build ONE product and figure out how to bring it to market at the face of serious competition from players like Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur.
