Roundtable Recap: March 5 – Billion Dollar Unicorns with Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam

During today’s roundtable, we celebrated the launch of my book, Billion Dollar Unicorns, with Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam. Veeam is Ratmir’s second venture, so he had some money to bootstrap with. Consequently, Veeam avoided taking any venture capital and grew organically till about $200 million in revenue. Today, Ratmir has taken some money from Insight Ventures, but only to give himself and his co-founder some liquidity, and access Insight’s network to find adjacent product lines. Ratmir also discussed how he has structured the Insight Ventures investment such that the company doesn’t need to exit. Very interesting!

As for the pitches, first up, Bragadish Sureshkumar, from Bangalore, India, pitched Inkloodeme. I am afraid I didn’t understand the concept at all. No one did. I suggested to Bragadish to use the 1M/1M Self-Assessment to refine his pitch.
