Roundtable Recap: June 4 – Billion Dollar Unicorns with Druva Founder Jaspreet Singh

During this week’s roundtable, we celebrated the launch of my book, Billion Dollar Unicorns, with Jaspreet Singh, Founder and CEO of Druva, India’s flagship global product success story. Druva is not quite a unicorn company yet, but definitely a contender.

Macpillar Technologies
As for the pitches, first up, Sanjeev Sharma from Noida, India, pitched Macpillar Technologies, an outsourcing company that he wants to build. The pitch was rather generic, and at this stage of the industry’s evolution, needs much more granular thinking to position a differentiated solution. Upon my probing, he did reveal that he had plans of focusing on Legal Process Outsourcing. However, that too is a crowded field.

During this week’s roundtable, we started off with a discussion about the Funny Money Unicorn Business and what entrepreneurs need to be careful about when contemplating financing and navigating the current highly irrational market environment.

As for the pitches, first up, Stewart Lowinger from Palm Springs, California, pitched Crescendo MDbN (Music Database Network). MDbN is similar to IMDB (movies), which was acquired by Amazon. There is clearly precedence of the idea working in films, so perhaps it could work as well in music.
