Roundtable Recap: June 18 – DIY, DIFM, DIWM Trends For SMB Solutions

During today’s roundtable, we had as our guest Rene Lacerte, CEO of Bill.com. Rene is also the founder of PayCycle, a SaaS payroll company catering to small businesses with fewer than 20 employees. The company was acquired by Intuit. Bill.com has raised over $120 million in funding. Rene and I discussed strategies and nuances of selling solutions to small businesses, and the nuances of Do It Yourself SaaS, Do It For Me SaaS Enabled BPO, and Do It With Me, a hybrid of the two. If you’re working on a SMB solution, this is an important discussion to listen to.

PlateSmart
As for the pitches, first up, Carl Lamberti from Virgina pitched PlateSmart, a car license plate recognition solution. The company has raised $12 million in the last 10 years, and did $500k in revenues last year. It has a pipeline of over 30 million-dollar deals, and is hoping to find its inflection point in the next 18 months.
