During this week’s roundtable, we had a full roster of very interesting pitches and promising concepts.
CallBikes
First up, Sai Prasad Somayajula from Toronto, Canada, pitched CallBikes, a crowdsourced delivery service for Indian cities whereby people who own bikes would perform delivery jobs on an on-demand basis, orchestrated by an Uber-like app. Like many entrepreneurs who chase financing before anything else, Sai is looking for financing without validation. In my opinion, a mistake. The concept, however, could be interesting if the trust and verification issues can be tackled, and the theft risk can be mitigated.
Stratis
Then Felicite Moorman, from Philadelphia, pitched Stratis, an access and energy management solution for multi-family residential units. The company is already well into revenue, and I believe, is potentially financeable.

During this week’s roundtable, I was delighted to see an entrepreneur – a young student from Siliguri, a small town in the foothills of the Himalayas – pitch an interesting project. I will talk about the project shortly, but let me start by commenting on the phenomenon that simply thrills me: young entrepreneurs in every corner of the world are thinking about new technology-enabled solutions in utterly cutting edge ways. Siliguri, this small town in India, is far away from Bangalore, often called India’s Silicon Valley. And yet, this young entrepreneur has found his way to a 1M/1M roundtable run out of Silicon Valley.
This morning, this encounter reminded me why I started 1M/1M in the first place!
We started our session today with Pallav Nadhani, CEO and Cofounder at FusionCharts, as our guest. I have known Pallav for a long time, and he will always have a special place in my heart as a young entrepreneur from Calcutta, where I was born and raised. Pallav has bootstrapped an $8 million a year product company from Calcutta, and discussed his journey today.
