You hear about fast growth, bootstrapped AI startups. Here’s a great story about one. Undetectable AI CEO Christian Perry is not very interested in raising Venture Capital.
Sramana Mitra: All right, Christian, let’s start at the very beginning of your journey. Where are you from? Where were you born and raised? What kind of background?
Christian Perry: My name’s Christian Perry. I’ve always been a serial entrepreneur. I started my first company at around nine years old, had my first couple of employees at age 13, and my first exit in my early twenties. Now I’m working on Undetectable AI and TruthScan, my current companies.
Sramana Mitra: Who were these people that you got an audience with?
Karyn Koven: I think it was because I had a background, and it was based on my reputation amongst other counselors and school officials.
Sramana Mitra: They were referring students to you?
>>>Sramana Mitra: Let’s go back to the beginning of LanguageBird. When you were thinking about doing this project, were you already thinking of it as an accredited language school that would serve as supplemental education?

Montevideo is the vibrant heart of Uruguay’s thriving tech ecosystem, celebrated for its political stability, advanced digital infrastructure, and highly skilled workforce. It’s no coincidence that the country’s first unicorn, dLocal, a major fintech player, was born here. The city’s strength lies in sectors like fintech, software development, and e-commerce, and its strategic location as a gateway to the larger Brazilian and Argentinian markets gives it a unique advantage.

Uruguay has quietly positioned itself as a key player in the Latin American startup scene. The country’s primary advantage is its exceptional political and economic stability, which, in a region often characterized by volatility, makes it an attractive hub for entrepreneurs and investors. Its capital, Montevideo, is the undisputed center of the ecosystem, home to the majority of startups and notable successes like dLocal, Uruguay’s first unicorn. Emerging hubs like Punta del Este are also gaining traction, leveraging their high quality of life to attract talent.

Lima is the undeniable epicenter of Peru’s startup ecosystem, serving as the country’s economic, political, and technological hub. With a dynamic population and a growing digital economy, Lima has attracted both local and foreign investment, leading to a surge in startups, particularly in fintech, logistics, and edtech. However, this rapid growth has been shaped by the prevailing “Blitzscale from the get-go” model, which is a dangerous and often unsustainable path.
