I’m publishing this series on LinkedIn called Colors to explore a topic that I care deeply about: the Renaissance Mind. I am just as passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, and business, as I am about art and culture. In this series, I will typically publish a piece of art – one of my paintings – and I request you to spend a minute or two deeply meditating on it. I urge you to watch your feelings, thoughts, reactions to the piece, and write what comes to you, what thoughts it triggers, in the dialog area. Let us see what stimulation this interaction yields. For today – October 4
October 4 | Sramana Mitra, 2021 | Watercolor, Brush Pen | 8 x 8, On Paper
Sramana Mitra: Talk to me about the VMWare Marketplace. How many VMWare admins are on the marketplace?
Stan Markov: It’s not the biggest source of leads. If I compare it to the AWS Marketplace or the Azure marketplace, VMWare Marketplace is not as popular. It’s one of the ways to get to either VMWare or third-party products.
>>>Sramana Mitra: They invested because the five of you had deep domain knowledge. This is a very desirable team.
Stan Markov: In addition to that, we had all the certificates. I was the first one in the entire IBM to get the highest VMWare certificate – VMWare Certified Design Expert. Only around 300 in the world have it.

During this week’s roundtable, we did a strategy session on how to develop startup ecosystems and pipelines of entrepreneurs outside of the six major metros based on my blog series, Startup Ecosystem in Kolkata: A Strategy Discussion. Very interesting discussion.

IBM (NYSE: IBM) recently announced mixed results for its second-quarter. The company continues to grow through acquisitions and recently bought Apptio, a Unicorn player whose founder I had spoken with a few years ago.
