Today’s roundtable started with an interesting discussion on equity financing from customers.
B2Be
First, Balaji Abbabatulla from London, England, a 1M/1M premium member, pitched B2Be. The company is working with accounting firms in London to validate its concept of a mobile invoicing app. Interestingly, some of these accounting firms have expressed interest in investing in the company.
Well, I am a huge believer of customers as equity investors in a business. Some of you may recall the Modernizing Medicine case study we published earlier. Now is a good time to review that story.

Our first presenter at today’s roundtable was awake at 1 AM, dialing in from Sydney. Through the rest of the call, we traversed the globe, spanning India, Israel, Boston and Virginia.
SydneySlice
First, Andrew Blake from Sydney, Australia, pitched SydneySlice, a buy-side real-estate company that wants to expand its presence in the foreign buyer market. Australian expats and foreigners wanting to buy property in Australia is their target segment. The company, although already doing significant business, has no online presence yet. That would be the area to focus on to expand their reach.
Outroop
Then Ilbay Ozbay from Tysons Corner, Virginia, pitched Outroop, which he describes as Elance for local contractors. Outroop already has about 4000 contractors, including 400 paying ones. The company has validated its model, and now, wants to grow to the next level.
