Roundtable Recap: September 19 – SMB Focused Offerings

Today’s roundtable had an interesting mix of companies ranging from Internet-of-things to daily deals platforms.

SSRLabs
We started with Axel Kloth from Palo Alto, California, who pitched SSRLabs, a semiconductor concept. Axel rightly pointed out that chip funding in the Valley has dried up, and there are very few VCs who invest in the sector. However, there are such investors, and I do know some of them.

RealOffer
Next, Mahesh Santhana from Boston, Massachusetts, pitched RealOffer, a platform for small businesses (restaurants, spas, etc.) to run their own daily deals. Mahesh has about 60 merchants in Harvard Square (Cambridge) engaged, and is working on validating his assumptions with them.

Roundtable Recap: September 12 – Peer Validation Is Irrelevant

Today’s roundtable was yet another global event with entrepreneurs pitching from Brazil, India, the United States and Europe.

UTripz
First, Eduardo Cardoso from Minas Gerais, Brazil, pitched UTripz, which he wants to build up to be an ad-supported content site featuring the top 300 travel destinations in Latin America, starting with the top 100 in Brazil. The site will be in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

Eduardo needs to learn how to build a web business at a granular level. He presented a slide that projects $20M in revenue in 24-36 months. Unfortunately, we didn’t see anything in his presentation to support that kind of monetization.
