During this week’s roundtable, our guest was Rehan Yar Khan, General Partner, Orios Venture Partners, and an early investor in the Indian startup scene. Rehan’s core focus is on the Indian consumer opportunity, and that is what we focused on in this discussion.

As for the pitches, first up pitching, Sanjay Kukreja from New Delhi, India, pitched PeopleAlliance, a two-sided marketplace to bring together temporary workers and employers in India. My read is that this concept needs to be focused on mid-sized employers and small staffing firms instead of individual workers.

Revignite
Then Tanuja Phadke from Oakland, California, pitched Revignite, also a two-sided marketplace for women to seek mentors. I thought this business would do substantially better if structured as a SaaS platform as opposed to a marketplace.
