Roundtable Recap: October 6 – Three Continents, Three Marketplaces

During this week’s roundtable, we worked with three entrepreneurs from three continents.

Survifly
First up pitching, Dotun Oni from Lagos, Nigeria, pitched Survifly, a crowdsourced market survey platform for collecting data for the African market. It sounds interesting, and I offered Dotun some next steps to move the project forward.

SwasthRaho
Then, Vaivhav Kumar from Patna, India, presented SwasthRaho, a discounted healthcare service provider network that offer 50% discount for accessing most care providers. One of my key questions is whether providers are willing to discount to this extent.

During this week’s roundtable, our guest was Asheem Chandna, General Partner at Greylock. The discussion was specifically focused on the topic of funding fat startups, something Asheem has done routinely, one of the very few VCs still doing so. Very interesting discussion.

Recruitee
As for the pitches, first up pitching, Perry Oostdam from Amsterdam presented Recruitee, a SaaS applicant management system that has garnered about 2000 customers worldwide. It’s a crowded field, and Perry is trying to figure out the strategy for scaling the business.
