Entrepreneurship is not a career. It is a way of life.
For me, this journey began as a graduate student at MIT in 1994. The world watched Netscape go public that spring, and the Internet swept over us like a virus. As I wrote my Masters thesis, I also wrote my first business plan. We were, as a generation, shaping the Internet during those early years, and, my degree in hand, I was ready to jump into the unknown – from then on really, I have been jumping into unknowns at every turn.

If you’ve never sought money for a startup, you may not be aware of how difficult it is. I know it first-hand, and thousands of entrepreneurs that I’ve advised throughout our 1Mby1M Accelerator would tell you the same.
That’s why we are committed to educating each founder about how investors think. We do not want anyone to waste their time or the time of others. We are firm believers in minimizing waste at all levels.

When we first announced the 1Mby1M mission of helping a million entrepreneurs reach a million dollars in annual revenue, we received a tremendous amount of interest from Sramana’s global community of readers. That was January 2010.
We created the 1Mby1M Ambassadors program to understand and support the needs of startup ecosystems around the world.
In November 2010, we launched the 1Mby1M Global Virtual Accelerator program. Some of the ambassadors became members of the 1Mby1M team. But we didn’t build the ambassador program itself further for a while.
This fall, due to the positive response to Sramana’s recent blog series, How to Build and Monetize a Technology Entrepreneurship Blog, we have restored the 1Mby1M Ambassadors program with a structured set of goals and resources. >>>

One frustrating observation remains with me. Entrepreneurs constantly come to us for assistance with their funding in situations where their chances of fundraising are ZERO.
We can’t do anything to assist them, regardless of how strong our investor connections are. We can’t help startups get funding until they are fundable. It pains me to see so many entrepreneurs who have no concept of what it takes to raise funds.
