President Obama’s Inauguration

This week, President Obama takes office. The world is in dire straits. Yet, we hope that America’s new President will exhibit great leadership in execution, as he has already shown great ability to inspire.

We hope. We hope because there is no use being skeptical anymore. There is no use in looking back and lamenting.

We are moving forward. Turning the page. Shoveling out the mess.

We are starting 2009 with a clean page. On the top right corner of that page is written, January 20, 2009. Barack Obama’s inauguration.

For the sake of the world’s future, I hope that Obama is as hugely successful as his millions of fans around the world want him to be. I hope that he is truly able to turn this situation around, and chart the course for a new world order, a world order with balance of power across several major economic, political and military powers. A world order in which trade and economics grow to unprecedented proportions, and with the help of technology and innovation, a truly enormous step forward is achieved in terms of development economics.

Yes, America, suddenly, has become a developing country. And Obama’s eight years will hopefully be successful in shepherding that development, alongside some yet to emerge great leaders in India, China, Latin America, Russia, Africa and Europe.

Yes, I hope, also, that Obama’s example will bring forth more inspiring leaders elsewhere in the world, for these ships have to all rise together, and for that to happen, each of them need some great captains working together towards a common good.
