Corporate Innovation Management: Lessons Learned

Last summer I spent half a day with approximately 40 Fortune 500 Chief Innovation Officers at Xerox PARC, and discussed our experience with corporate innovation methodology through the1M/1M Incubator In A Box program.

A few months later, Jim Euchner, the CIO of Goodyear, interviewed me for the Research-Technology Management journal and I summarized some key excerpts from the discussion here: Corporate Innovation Management: A Methodology Discussion

For those of you thinking about corporate innovation, I’ve recently covered the issues that most frequently come up and the lessons we have learned based on our experience working with various organizations:

As you can imagine, it has been extremely rewarding to work with companies on their innovation management programs. To see the ideas of a group of employees take shape and grow into revenue generating activities over the course of a year is quite exciting for all involved.

It is, however, quite complex to manage the nuances of such programs and get them to work right.
