This is a really nice article. I totally agree that online education is the only way ahead.
Just as accredition is a challenge, I feel that giving credentials to students is also a challenge. How does one deliver tests in an online scenario? Can students be given credentials by a means that does not involve traditional testing?

You may want to check out the College of Liberal Studies at the University of Oklahoma for an example of innovation and leadership in public university online education – celebrating its 50th year of existence for non-traditional students next year. Over 10 years delivering fully online Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (very different from enrolling students in online education).
